I designed this chandelier and had it made. Inspired by an antique.
{It used to hang over the breakfast table in our Houston home.}
{I'd like to add these to the chandelier.}
{A mix of pillow textures and tones is my favorite way to dress a bed.}
The door leading out of our bedroom.
Love seeing this French desk in my bedroom.
{It sat in the corner of the family room in Houston.}
The hallway leading to our room.
{In Houston, the shelf hung inside the bedroom.}
The shelf is the top part of an old kitchen hutch.
{A great place to gather some smaller, personal objects.}
{Found these sconces in Union, Maine.}
{Love this itty bitty jar.}
{A reminder to laugh.}
{Crown and book love.}
Two things I had to buy for this room: a queen headboard {amazing price here...on major sale right now!} and smaller dressers to use as bedside tables {from my favorite online source, Wisteria}. Everything else came from different areas of my Houston house...all collected over time from various places.
A few things I'd like to add to the room: bamboo or grass shades with sheer belgian linen panels {similar to what I did in Houston}. I'd also like to remember to have my bedskirt altered from a king to a queen so that I can use it! {All my linens are all king-sized. A little oversized, but I loved what I had in Houston and couldn't bare to re-spend the money. Bella Notte was a splurge for me the first time!}
Paint color: The walls are Manchester from Pratt & Lambert. It's a beautiful blue gray with more depth and moodiness than Wickham Gray, which I like for a bedroom. {Sherwin Williams has the formula and can match it.} The ceilings are half formula Wickham Gray by Benjamin Moore.
Sometimes sharing photographs of my house feels downright silly. But as a beauty lover, this is what I do. I hunt for beauty, and when I can't find it, I create it. My hope is that sharing brings some inspiration your way. I remember the days when my bedroom was my last priority {because it wasn't a room people would see}. But I've learned that my bedroom is an important space. It's a place of self-care, rest, peace and intimacy. Make it a special place. YOU ARE WORTH IT!
Happy weekend, sweet friends!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your bedroom! So excited about the great price on the headboard...I think I might just have to order it! :) Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteSuch a steal! And I thought the regular price was a steal! It's not the highest quality fabric, but for the price and beautiful shape, I'm happy to have it.
DeleteSo, so pretty!!! What a place of refuge! In one of our bedrooms, there is a 12 year old still asleep. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteSmiling at the thought of our sleeping girls! I just heard the sound of foot steps upstairs! Happy weekend to you!
DeleteYour bedroom is gorgeous! You have such an eye for beauty!!!! So glad you shared...
ReplyDeleteHappy sunshiney day to you, my friend.
Linsey your bedroom is so serene! I love it!!! I am going to pin some of your photos for inspiration. I have a blue bedroom too and some similar elements to yours. This post gives me ideas as to how to fine tune and edit some of what I already have. Thank you so much for sharing! I do hope that you all will get snow there in Franklin. We got snow here in Knoxville and it has been so much fun! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteNo snow here, but how exciting for you! I'm just thankful for sunshine! Glad I could provide you with some inspiration and fine tuning ideas! Have fun!
DeleteLove your bedroom. So tranquil and inviting. Now, I just want to go "fluff" my bedroom. :)
ReplyDeletelinsey, i love your style. you have impeccable taste!!!
ReplyDeleteeverything you touch becomes lovely!
thank you for sharing your bedroom space...gorgeous!!!!!!
beautiful and serene... I am in love with this room! the shelf you have out side your bedroom, it's kind of a grey color... can you share the color and brand of paint?? it's perfect!! I'd love to paint something I have such a good shade! marcy
ReplyDeleteThe shelf was a happy accident. I found it at Urban Market in Houston already painted a nice shade of gray, but then I rubbed it with a little stain and then some liming wax. A stain will darken things up {almost changing the color entirely} and the liming wax lightens things. Didn't use an exact formula or strategy.
Deleteoh darn... thanks for your reply! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! I do think you could achieve something similar with a gray paint and some wax. Maybe some of Annie Sloan's wax? People seem to be doing amazing things with it and say it's really easy.
DeleteI think it's great that you are sharing your home with us! I just love what you have done with your room and how you have repurposed your favorite pieces in your new home. Is it just me, or does this home seem to fit you more?
ReplyDeleteI think my favorites are that hallway shelf and the little French desk in your room...love!
Interesting that you think this house might fit me better! I've wondered that at times. I enjoyed the special details of my Houston home so much, but I wasn't responsible for them. Most were incorporated into the remodel that occurred just before we bought the house. So in some ways, this house is more me because I'm making more creative decisions. And it's more laid back, which suits me very well these days!
DeleteThank you for sharing your bedroom, it is warm and cozy feeling to me. I really love the bench at the foot of your bed . . . do you know if that is something that can still be purchased?
ReplyDeleteI just checked Wisteria's website and they still have it! It's called the Tufted Linen French Bench. I got mine on sale. They have several good sales a year.
DeleteYou have just made me sooo happy, I have been looking for a headboard like this (that has some height to it)! Now I just have to talk my hubby into letting me buy it ;) Thank you for sharing your beautiful bedroom and all the resources, it was incredibly generous of you.
ReplyDeleteTell hubby that a headboard of this size and shape is NEVER this cheap. Probably can't even make one this cheap...that looks this good anyway! ;)
DeleteHe was suprisingly easily convinced, ordered it this AM in the king size! Thanks again for sharing your resources and PLEASE keep sharing your BEAUTIFUL home with us!
DeleteAbsolutely beautiful and peaceful Linsey!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing the paint colors too, I love the color on your walls!
Hope you have a wonderful day.
Sincerely,
Melinda
Such a beautiful room! I would love to have a chandelier in my bedroom, but just don't think I could make it without a fan....
ReplyDeleteI know lots of families who feel the same way about their fans. Personally, I don't like air blowing on me, so it's an easy choice for me. {My husband would probably love a fan, but he's sweet to indulge my love of chandeliers!}
DeleteJust BEAUTIFUL Linsey!! And Not Silly, not from our viewpoint. My favorite thing is when others share what they've worked so hard on to create such a pretty, calm space.
ReplyDeleteI love smaller rooms much better than larger rooms. They just feel warmer to me. Your master bedroom reminds me so much of ours so naturally, I love it! I love the character your french desk adds. Our bedroom in the new house looks exactly the same as the new one...just different location and I've been taking a blogging sabbatical and haven't updated on the new house: http://hibnerfamily.com/2011/05/03/our-bedroom/ One day soon I will.
Your beautiful bedroom is how I first found you! I loved every single detail and felt like our taste was so similar. So you're right. Not silly because it sharing bedrooms and house photos helped us meet. Your sweet comments over the last year have been such an encouragement. Thankful our paths crossed!
DeleteI LOVE it when you show the rooms in your house. They provide so much beauty and inspiration. Please don't stop! I love it when you give colors and sources, too.
ReplyDeleteLinsey...what a beautiful calm bedroom. Love it. The Mister and I are doing our master bath and bedroom over. Would love the same feeling that yours portrays. Best part... Wisteria outlet is near Love airport in Dallas. Just minutes away. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Linsey! So calm and inviting, I'm sure it is a haven for you at the end of the day. Love seeing your home, it is so inspiring:-)
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom is so beautiful!! It looks like such a peaceful place. Thank you so much for sharing it with us!!
ReplyDeleteStellar. Love every detail. What a lovely place to begin each day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement, sweet blog friends. There's always that awkward moment that comes just before I share the photos of my home...wondering if it's too shallow or silly or insignificant. You've reminded me why I enjoy posts like this every bit as much as the deeper ones. :)
ReplyDeleteVery, very pretty! I love the wall color, it's so serene with the white bed linens. You did a wonderful job with the furnishings and all of your shop at home treasures. I love it all!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Linsey, thank you for sharing your bedroom! It's beautiful. And, that headboard….crazy great price and it's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love your bedroom and your decorating style in every room! Your details are amazing, I can't wait to see more of your new farmhouse once you are all done :)
ReplyDeleteDo you mind if I ask how high your ceilings are? I love the headboard but I'm afraid it might overwhelm our room.
ReplyDelete9 feet in that room, but lower upstairs in the guest room where I have the same headboard. (8 or 8 1/2 feet.) Such a great price, shape and height.
DeleteLinsey,
ReplyDeleteI love how you have added such personal touches and thought to your room! That's why it is so warm and inviting. I completely agree with the notion that a master bedroom is a place of refuge and intimacy, and therefore should be treated with care and love. It's so important to set the tone in our personal spaces, as well as rooms that are more public. Thanks for sharing. xo! Nicole
Wow- thanks for the heads up on the headboard SALE- that one is such a classic- how could you go wrong?
ReplyDeleteAnd It's just what would go nicely in our new bedroom.. and not break the bank.
Looks like your room is soft and elegant.. very nice !

DeleteJust so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteA perfect place to rest your heart on.

isn't it so wonderful to have a room unpacked and finished?
ReplyDeleteit is beautiful..just as i knew it would be:)
i love the xo .. i so need that
it is funny that you say the sun came out and you took pictures.
nikki is the same way when light is good she gets excited to photograph
xoxo
Ha! Yes, I'll photograph anything if you give me some good natural light! It has a way of turning the ordinary into something extraordinary. {The light in my room isn't picture perfect, but the sunlight was enough to inspire me!}
DeleteLinsey, I missed this post earlier....life has been crazy. Happy to be enjoying it now. Your bedroom is divine. Love the French painted desk. Such a beautiful piece. I adore the shaped gallery on top and the quirky book niche. And the chandelier you designed is perfect in the room.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour ~ Loi
The desk is one of my favorite purchases ever! And because I love hand written notes, I really do plan to sit down and write some notes there soon!
Deleteabsolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteyou have the most amazing sense of style!!!
I love that everything is so crisp and clean. :)
I pinned your bedroom...what a true beauty!
Thank you, sweet Tara!
Deleteand I LOVE the shelf outside the room...did you guys have it painted or did come with that finish? LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteFyi...you can still use your king-sized bedskirt on your queen bed -- especially since you have a bench at the foot of your bed (this will help disguise the work-around if it's obvious). When you put the bedskirt on create a single accordion fold in the middle. You'll have to carefully place the mattress back on top to keep your careful fold in place but it's doable! This trick works especially well with ruffled skirts because you can hide the fold in the ruffles. I did this with a king-sized bed skirt once and it worked fine. You may eventually still buy a new skirt but it worked pretty well for me! :)
You could also have the skirt altered to fit because it's always possible to alter anything that's large to something smaller. :)
I've thought of folding it for now, though my real goal was to have it altered. After almost 7 months, you'd think I would've done something about that by now. Oh, well!
DeleteI have to say thanks for the heads up on the headboard also!
ReplyDeleteHope you love it!
DeleteDying over this headboard--thank you! Would you mind sharing where you found your diamond large pillow shams?
ReplyDeleteWouldn't mind at all, but I bought them almost 10 years ago! Restoration Hardware long before it was so chic!
DeleteWow, Linsey! Love, love, love your home (and style!)! I wonder if you could please post/email a close-up of that lovely botanical art piece you showed at the beginning of this post. I would love to create something like that for my bedroom. Such a lovely, serene space! I've got some piles of laundry to put away, some outgrown clothes of my kids' to give away and some etc. piles to cull and then I may start on the fun of decorating. Thanks for the inspiring nudge! :)
ReplyDeleteWarmly,
Sara
I don't have a close up photo right now, but feel free to email me through my website - www.llhdesigns.com - and I'll reply when I have one. If this helps: it's an old window pane with a different botanical in each pane. I bought mine already put together, but you could probably make something like this if you're up for a little project.
DeleteLove your style! The rug in your bedroom looks beautiful. Do you mind sharing where you found it? I think it is so nice that your share your resources. It takes alot of time to pull a look together and your are so generous to share your information/resources. (Lovethislife/Hibners does the same thing with her design process.)Thanks, Wendy
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wendy. I bought the rug so long ago that I can't remember the exact source. But it was online...sight unseen. It's needlepoint (not super expensive) and I just knew I liked the colors. I once found a smaller one I liked similar to this one at Tuesday Morning! You are right that it takes a lot of time to pull a look together. YEARS! :)
DeleteIt seems like everyone has asked for sources on everything except that beautiful white chair at your desk! I am looking for just such a thing for my desk. Is it slipcovered? I love your blog! It will always be in my favorites and in my blogroll! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Collette. The chair is from Ikea and the slipcover is from a company overseas who makes slips for Ikea furniture. I hesitate to share the name because I had a terrible experience with them and haven't wanted to recommend them. (Most of the slips didn't fit; took 6 months to resolve; in the end, they aren't the as great as I was hoping. I was supposedly their first US customer, so maybe they've improved. The company is Bemz.) I honestly think you could have something made well by a local person. Just buy some good white linen (or whatever fabric you like).
